Spain Adds €100 Million to NEOTEC and Science & Innovation Missions 2026

The Spanish Government has increased the 2026 funding for two key CDTI programmes by €100 million, bringing their combined budget to €180 million.

NEOTEC will increase from €20 million to €40 million, while Science & Innovation Missions will rise from €60 million to €140 million. The additional funding will particularly support projects related to security and defence, including technologies with dual-use potential.

But beyond the headline figure, the increase points to something more relevant for companies developing innovative technologies: the direction of public funding priorities is becoming increasingly strategic.

What does this mean for companies?

For technology-based startups, the additional NEOTEC funding could create more opportunities to finance the development of innovative technologies without relying exclusively on private capital.

For companies and research organisations working on collaborative R&D, the increased budget for Science & Innovation Missions opens additional room for ambitious projects addressing strategic technological challenges.
